On September 30, 2021, President of Shanghai Institute for International Strategic Studies (SIISS) Yang Jiemian hosted the 41st online seminar between American and Chinese scholars, and the topic of this conference is “Strengthening International Cooperation against COVID-19 and Maintaining US-China Relations”.

 

Chinese participants also included Prof. Chen Dongxiao, President of Shanghai Institutes for International Studies (SIIS). The American participants were Karl Eikenberry, former U.S. Ambassador to Afghanistan and Lieutenant General, U.S. Army (retired); Paul Haenle, Maurice R. Greenberg Director’s Chair, Carnegie-Tsinghua Center for Global Policy, Carnegie Endowment for International Peace;Danniel Russell, Fromer Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs.

 

The two sides had an in-depth exchange on the Sino-U.S. relations, and agreed that China and the United States should strengthen mutual understanding and enhance mutual political trust to ensure the long-term stable development of bilateral relations.
